Racing Incident Report

MASTER GIGOLO began awkwardly. Near the 1500 Metres, BETTER BOY was steadied away from the heels of MASTER GIGOLO. GOODY, which was following, was steadied to avoid the heels of BETTER BOY. After this, GOODY proved difficult to settle. Near the 1000 Metres, CHEEKY was checked and shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of MASTER GIGOLO which when proving difficult to settle was checked to avoid the heels of JOYFUL SPIRIT which itself got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of DAVE'S BEST. FLYING BISHOP, which was following CHEEKY, was checked in consequence. After this incident, CHEEKY raced wide and without cover. Also near the 1000 Metres, MASCOT BALLET got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BETTER BOY. Approaching the 1000 Metres, LIBERAL'S CHOICE was steadied away from the heels of GREAT LEADER. On straightening, BETTER BOY was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of JOYFUL SPIRIT. When shifting out, BETTER BOY bumped MASTER GIGOLO and became unbalanced. In the early part of the Straight, GOODY was held up and unable to improve between GIFT and JOYFUL SPIRIT. Passing the 200 Metres, GOODY was again held up and unable to improve between JOYFUL SPIRIT and BETTER BOY. Because of this, GOODY was not properly tested. D Whyte (DAVE'S BEST) said the horse travelled comfortably throughout the run, however, over the concluding stages shortened in its stride and did not close off as he had anticipated it would. BETTER BOY and INVERNESS were sent for sampling.
