Racing Incident Report

The Stewards today interviewed Mr A Lee, trainer of ABSOLUTE CHAMPION, as to the circumstances regarding the horse being mistakenly treated with Hyonate and Adequan yesterday morning. These substances are anti-arthritic medications. ABSOLUTE CHAMPION was withdrawn by order of the Stewards and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter COME SEE YOU (W M Lai). Mr Lee pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching Rule 50(2) in that he was negligent in the running of his stable and was fined $20,000. COME SEE YOU was slow to begin. When the gates opened, HELENE PILLAGING bounded in the air. FOKINE was slow to begin. At the 400 Metres, ABLE CHOICE was steadied when disappointed for running inside FIREBOLT. In the early part of the Straight, WYNDAM EASY was held up and unable to obtain clear running. To obtain clear running near the 300 Metres, WYNDAM EASY was shifted to the outside of HELENE PILLAGING. At the 200 Metres, GENERAL KINGY and SPECIAL KING PRAWN were crowded for room inside MY CHOICE which shifted in momentarily. ABLE CHOICE, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Throughout the race, SUPER BROSE raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, S Sanders, reported he was concerned with the action of SUPER BROSE as it was giving ground in the Straight. SUPER BROSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. GRAND DELIGHT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GRAND DELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. FOKINE, SPECIAL KING PRAWN and MY CHOICE were sent for sampling.
