Racing Incident Report
NOBLE CHAMPION began awkwardly and lost ground. SUMMERVILLE POWER and AWARD were slow to begin. On jumping, MOVE IT and FORTUNE PRINCESS were checked when crowded for room between ORIENTAL which shifted in slightly and GOLD STRIKER which on jumping shifted out abruptly. In the early stages, FAST TRACK proved difficult to settle. In the early part of the Straight, NOBLE CHAMPION was held up and unable to improve between SPRINTER and MOVE IT. E Saint-Martin (ORIENTAL) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position. He said ORIENTAL did not begin well, shifted in and caused crowding on its inside. He said after this he commenced to ride ORIENTAL along and shortly after the start used the whip in an endeavour to get the horse to travel forward. He said he then reached down with his right hand and adjusted his foot in the stirrup as it had shifted on jumping out. He said near the 1200 Metres he was trailing GOLD STRIKER forward and hoped to obtain a position off that horse approaching the first turn. He said when GOLD STRIKER shifted in to a three wide position he was left racing four wide and without cover as he was not able to shift in because of runners to his inside. He said after this ORIENTAL continued to race a little keenly, progressed forward to race four wide outside the lead and in the Straight when giving ground hung in. He said the circumstances of today's race meant he was not able to obtain a position with cover. MOVE IT, GREEN CENTURY and NOBLE CHAMPION were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MOVE IT, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Also after the race, GREEN CENTURY, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat and also was found to have bled from the left nostril. He said an endoscopic examination confirmed GREEN CENTURY to be an official bleeder. Before being allowed to race again, MOVE IT and GREEN CENTURY will both have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE CHAMPION after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING POWER, GOLD STRIKER and MAGIC TOUCH were sent for sampling.
