Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, SPINNING CITY became fractious and momentarily had its right hind leg caught on a partition in the barriers. The horse was removed from the stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Also after being boxed, VERY FIT became fractious and got its right hind leg caught for a considerable time in an awkward position on a side partition in the barriers. The horse was removed from the stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of VERY FIT. Before being allowed to race again, VERY FIT will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. GREENESSY was slow to begin. SPINNING CITY, which was standing badly, began awkwardly and lost ground. After the 1500 Metres, ADAIKALI was steadied away from the heels of DENDRANTHEMA LOVE which shifted in whilst being restrained. For some distance after the 1300 Metres, ORIENTAL was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of DENDRANTHEMA LOVE which when proving difficult to settle got its head up, raced ungenerously and on a number of occasions shifted ground. After the 1200 Metres, WISE CHOICE became unbalanced. For a short distance after the 300 Metres, WONG'S SUCCESS was held up and unable to improve inside WISE CHOICE and behind THUNDER STORM which was giving ground. For the majority of the race, LIFELINE RAPIDE raced wide and without cover. H K Yim (DENDRANTHEMA LOVE) said the trainer had initially indicated to him that he should ride the horse behind midfield, however, after discussing the horse's recent performances with the trainer H K Yim said he would like to try and ride the horse in a more forward position. He said accordingly he rode DENDRANTHEMA LOVE from the gates to obtain a position in front of midfield and near the 1400 Metres commenced to steady his mount. He said when he did this DENDRANTHEMA LOVE got its head up, raced ungenerously for a considerable distance and would not settle. FASHION JEWELLERY and GREENESSY were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported ORIENTAL had bled from both nostrils and ADAIKALI had sustained a laceration to the right hind fetlock.
