Racing Incident Report

MOMENTUM was slow to begin. FAVOURITE RETURN, which was standing with its head turned to the left, was slow to begin. On jumping, OLIVE OR TWIST shifted out, bumped SPEEDY EXPRESS and as a result lost ground. Also on jumping, TELECOM TYCOON stumbled. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TELECOM TYCOON and STOIC bumped. Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, NATURAL MODEL was checked when crowded for room inside NICKU NICKU which at this time was carried in by MASTER YING which got its head on the side and shifted in away from SPEEDY EXPRESS (G Mossé) after having been initially carried in by that horse which shifted ground when not clear. In the circumstances, it was considered the appropriate action was for G Mossé to be severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. Near the 1300 Metres, FAVOURITE RETURN was crowded for room between OLIVE OR TWIST and NATURAL MODEL which when racing keenly got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of NICKU NICKU. In the early stages, RIGHT CHOICE from a gate towards the outside raced wide and without cover. After the 1100 Metres, JOY TRUMPS brushed the running rail when close to the heels of NATURAL MODEL. At the 1000 Metres, MOMENTUM was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of TELECOM TYCOON. In the middle stages, OLIVE OR TWIST raced wide and without cover. After the 600 Metres, STOIC got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of NATURAL MODEL. On straightening, NICKU NICKU was steadied when disappointed for running between SPEEDY EXPRESS and inside the heels of CHINOOK. NICKU NICKU was then shifted towards the inside of SPEEDY EXPRESS where initially running was available, however, SPEEDY EXPRESS then shifted in, resulting in NICKU NICKU again being steadied after the 300 Metres and shifted to the outside of that horse. STOIC, which was following NICKU NICKU, was steadied and shifted to the outside of that horse near the 200 Metres. For some distance after the 200 Metres, NICKU NICKU continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 100 Metres was shifted to the outside of MASTER YING. Near the 150 Metres, TELECOM TYCOON, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the inside of JOY TRUMPS which shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, STOIC was momentarily crowded for room between NATURAL MODEL and NICKU NICKU. Over the concluding stages, MASTER YING hung in. OLIVE OR TWIST was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of OLIVE OR TWIST after the race did not show any significant findings. FAVOURITE RETURN and MASTER YING were sent for sampling.
