Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, BEVERLY DREAM became fractious and kicked out behind on several occasions. BEVERLY DREAM was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. GALLANT HORSE bounded in the air at the start. MASTER ABLE was slow to begin. STAR OF LIHLIN began awkwardly. CONSTELLATION began awkwardly, causing O Doleuze, its rider, to become unbalanced. As a result CONSTELLATION lost ground. Near the 400 Metres, HANDBAG FORTUNE hung out. Near the 300 Metres, RED STORM RISING bumped the hindquarters of STRAWBERRY KISSES which was giving ground. D Whyte (RED STORM RISING) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in, thereby causing crowding on its inside to GOLDEN FARM which as a result became unbalanced, blundered and dislodged Apprentice H W Lai, its rider. D Whyte was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 7 April 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 23 March 2005. In addition, D Whyte was fined $80,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 2 further racedays. GOLDEN FARM was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN FARM after the race did not show any significant findings. JADE DANCER, GIFTED RUNNER and BEVERLY DREAM were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 22 March 2005)
GOLDEN FARM, which became unbalanced and blundered near the 200 Metres, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. GOLDEN FARM was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer L Ho on Sunday, 20 March. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN FARM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
