Racing Incident Report
HIGH INTELLIGENT was withdrawn on 2.4.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter RED PEPPER (Apprentice P H Lo). Before being allowed to race again, HIGH INTELLIGENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SATURN began awkwardly, became unbalanced and lost ground. MAGNIFIER and SUPREME RABBIT were slow to begin. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, STAY YOUNG brushed the running rail. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, SATURN was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BLUE STITCH. After the 400 Metres, SATURN, which was held up and unable to obtain clear running, was steadied and shifted to the inside of STAY YOUNG. Near the 300 Metres, PALETTE NATURAL, which was beginning to close off, was momentarily steadied when improving into a narrow run inside FLORAL DYNAMITE which was giving ground. After the 300 Metres, SUPREME RABBIT, which was hanging out, shifted ground and bumped BOWMAN'S CROSSING. Near the 200 Metres, when shifting to the outside of GRAND ZULU to obtain clear running, SATURN bumped STAY YOUNG which was giving ground. After the 200 Metres, SUPER KID was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of RUSSIAN PEARL which shifted in when not quite clear. Over the concluding stages, SUMMERLAND hung out. GRAND ZULU was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GRAND ZULU was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood and some mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GRAND ZULU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RUSSIAN PEARL and MAGNIFIER were sent for sampling.
