Racing Incident Report

SILVER SUN was withdrawn on 12.5.05 by order of the Stewards (stable transfer) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter SUDDEN SPLENDOR (O Doleuze). SUDDEN SPLENDOR was subsequently withdrawn on 13.5.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right eye corneal ulcer) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter MY LUCK (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, SUDDEN SPLENDOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LIFELINE RAPIDE began awkwardly, threw its head about and lost ground. AWESOME EAGLE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SUPER CHARGE, causing both horses to lose ground. At the 1200 Metres, SUPER CHARGE was steadied when crowded for room inside AWESOME EAGLE which itself became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of GREAT ACHIEVEMENT which when proving difficult to settle shifted in away from the heels of ALWAYS ZIETEN which shifted in when barely clear. Near the 1100 Metres, AWESOME EAGLE and GREAT ACHIEVEMENT which was continuing to prove difficult to settle were crowded for room inside FAST TRACK which shifted in when barely clear. After this incident, AWESOME EAGLE commenced to over-race. At the 500 Metres, WINNING SUNSHINE was steadied to avoid the heels of ADAIKALI (K Darley) which shifted in when not properly clear. K Darley was advised to exercise more care. After the 200 Metres, G Mossé momentarily dropped his right rein. Near the 100 Metres, MY LUCK, which was giving ground, was steadied to avoid the heels of SOLAR which shifted to the outside of DILIGENT to obtain clear running. G Mossé (GREAT ACHIEVEMENT) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 50 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of DILIGENT, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. G Mossé was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 30 May 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 18 May 2005. In addition, G Mossé was fined $70,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. Throughout the race, ADAIKALI and WINNING SUNSHINE raced wide and without cover. SUPER CHARGE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER CHARGE after the race did not show any significant findings. SOLAR and GREAT ACHIEVEMENT were sent for sampling. After the race, M Rodd reported AMSTERDAM was making an abnormal breathing noise. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said an endoscopic examination showed it to have a mild throat inflammation. Before being allowed to race again, AMSTERDAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FAST TRACK had lost its left front plate.
