Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the saddling stalls, it was noted DR MORE had shifted its left front plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. ZONUS was slow to begin. NOBLE SILENCE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DR MORE. Shortly after the start, EGYPTIAN RA was crowded for room inside KING OF FISH (Apprentice K W Tsui) which when being ridden along shifted in. Apprentice Tsui was advised to exercise more care. In the early stages, EGYPTIAN RA proved difficult to settle. At the 400 Metres, SAN LORENZO was held up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHARKI. At the 300 Metres, SHANGHAI LAD was steadied away from the heels of WEALTHY TREASURE which shifted out. At the 250 Metres, WHATABOB, which was held up and unable to improve between NOBLE CRUSADER and EGYPTIAN RA which was hanging in, was struck on the nose by the whip of B Prebble (EGYPTIAN RA). SOLAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, SOLAR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, SOLAR will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NOBLE CRUSADER, SAN LORENZO and WHATABOB were sent for sampling.
