Racing Incident Report

Mr J Size, the trainer of KINGSTON WINNER, was fined $2,000 for having initially declared C Brown as the rider of the horse without having properly engaged him. C Brown had a firm commitment to ride PRETTY TRIO in this race. As such, the Stewards permitted G Schofield to be substituted as the rider of KINGSTON WINNER. MASTER GIGOLO was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, MASTER GIGOLO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, HELLO PRETTY became fractious, reared, sat down behind and was trapped in an adjoining partition. HELLO PRETTY was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of HELLO PRETTY. Before being allowed to race again, HELLO PRETTY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. COSMO SUCCESS was slow to begin, then shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of STABLE MAIL. HONOUR SUPREME began awkwardly. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, BETTER BOY, which had been a little slow to begin, failed to muster speed and got well back. Approaching the first turn, HONOUR SUPREME was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PRETTY TRIO which itself was awkwardly placed inside the heels of THE KING. SNIPPEDYDOODA made the first turn awkwardly and hung out. After the 200 Metres, SNIPPEDYDOODA was steadied and shifted to the inside of HONOUR SUPREME to obtain clear running. Near the 100 Metres, KINGSTON WINNER, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room between STABLE MAIL and PRETTY TRIO which was carried out by HONOUR SUPREME (A Delpech) which got its head on the side and shifted ground. While the Stewards were satisfied A Delpech had stopped riding and endeavoured to straighten his mount, he nevertheless was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten sooner than he did on this occasion. Over the concluding stages, STABLE MAIL hung in. COSMO SUCCESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of COSMO SUCCESS after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY GOOD DAY and THE KING were sent for sampling.
