Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, MULTI MILLIONS, which made contact with a rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was suitable to race. When the gates opened, ADD THE FUN bounded in the air and lost ground. Shortly after the start, SUNRISE RAINBOW, PERFECT MISSION and CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE were checked when crowded for room between ASSET PLAY which shifted in and SUPER CHARGE which got its head on the side and shifted out away from ALWAYS ZIETEN which on jumping shifted out. W M Lai (ASSET PLAY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of ALWAYS ZIETEN, causing that horse to be carried in and caused crowding on its inside to ARMONDO which as a result shifted in, causing crowding on its inside to MULTI MILLIONS which lost its rightful running and was checked. W M Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 30 June 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (1 Hong Kong raceday). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 26 June 2005. In addition, W M Lai was fined 30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 3 further racedays. Near the 1300 Metres, ALWAYS ZIETEN was steadied when crowded for room between ARMONDO which shifted out to relieve pressure on its inside and ASSET PLAY which shifted in when not properly clear. After this, ALWAYS ZIETEN raced wide and without cover for the major part of the race and commenced to give ground from the 600 Metres. ALWAYS ZIETEN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ALWAYS ZIETEN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, ALWAYS ZIETEN will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Near the 1200 Metres, ADD THE FUN got its head up when racing close to the heels of SIR OCTAVIUS which was racing tight inside ELECTRONICS SPUR. Near the 1000 Metres, ADD THE FUN was steadied when close to the heels of SIR OCTAVIUS and tight inside MULTI MILLIONS which at this time got its head on the side and hung in. On straightening, PERFECT MISSION was steadied and shifted to the inside of SIR OCTAVIUS. Near the 200 Metres, LUCKY STALLION was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PERFECT MISSION which at this time was shifting in to obtain clear running. At the 150 Metres, ARMONDO, which was giving ground, was steadied to avoid the heels of PERFECT MISSION which at this time shifted to the inside of ASSET PLAY to continue going forward. In the Straight, SUNRISE RAINBOW hung in and proved difficult to ride and near the 200 Metres was shifted out and made contact with MULTI MILLIONS. ARMONDO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ARMONDO was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings, however, he did note the horse had lost its left front plate. ADD THE FUN and SUPER CHARGE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE had lost its left front plate.
