Racing Incident Report

NOBLE SILENCE and CELEBRATION were slow to begin. BEST LUCK got its head up as the gates opened and lost ground. EGYPTIAN RA began awkwardly and shortly afterwards bumped with HIP HIP HOORAY when RUM SHOT shifted out. As a result of this, both EGYPTIAN RA and HIP HIP HOORAY lost ground. In the early stages, EGYPTIAN RA proved very difficult to settle and approaching the 800 Metres was checked to avoid the heels of HIP HIP HOORAY which shifted in when not properly clear. STRONG SUN, which was following EGYPTIAN RA, was hampered in consequence. In the opinion of the Stewards, the manner in which EGYPTIAN RA was racing contributed to this incident, therefore no action was taken. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, BEST LUCK proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RUM SHOT. Near the 100 Metres, Apprentice H W Lai (HIP HIP HOORAY) dropped his whip. Over the concluding stages, WHATABOB and HAPPEE OWNER shifted wider on the track. BEST LUCK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BEST LUCK after the race did not show any significant findings. EGYPTIAN RA, HAPPEE OWNER and STRONG SUN were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 20 September 2005)
BEST LUCK, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BEST LUCK was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer S Woods last Sunday. He said at this time he noted the horse to be slightly lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BEST LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
