Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, RUM SHOT bounded in the air and landed awkwardly, causing K S Yu, its rider, to lose the use of his left stirrup for some distance. As a consequence of this, RUM SHOT lost a significant amount of ground. On jumping, SUCCESSIVE GAINS from the outside gate got its head up and then was shifted across behind runners. Shortly after the start, PACKING ANGEL was checked when crowded for room between STAY YOUNG and TCHAIKOVSKY which on jumping shifted in. After the 1200 Metres, SAVUTE was steadied to avoid the heels of TCHAIKOVSKY which shifted in when barely clear. In the early part of the Straight, GOODY had difficulty obtaining clear running. For a considerable distance after straightening, SIROCCO had difficulty obtaining clear running between SAVUTE and HAPPEE OWNER. After the 200 Metres, SIROCCO was shifted to the inside of HAIL THE STORM into clear running. Throughout the race, STAY YOUNG and GIANFANTI raced wide and without cover. ORIENTAL MAGIC was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ORIENTAL MAGIC was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ORIENTAL MAGIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPEE OWNER, TCHAIKOVSKY and HAIL THE STORM were sent for sampling
