Racing Incident Report

BROWN BEAUTY was slow to begin. TREASURE RAIDERS began awkwardly and got its head up. COTTON BALL began awkwardly. With the intention of being ridden in a rearward position from the outside barrier, TIMBER CITY was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position on the rail but at the rear. Throughout the race, SABRE AND GOLD raced wide and without cover and making the turn near the 600 Metres hung out. Making the Home Turn, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of A BETTER DRAGON, then on straightening was steadied and shifted towards the outside of COTTON BALL, however, hung in and proved difficult to ride out. Near the 100 Metres, BROWN BEAUTY, which was closing the race off, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of LEGIONNAIRE which was giving ground. C Munce (COTTON BALL) said in the early stages the horse felt flat and as a consequence even though the tempo was moderate got further back than he anticipated. He said to have COTTON BALL travel in a more forward position would have required him in his opinion to make too much use of the horse. He said with the fast closing sections of the race it was impossible for COTTON BALL to make ground in the run home. TIMBER CITY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TIMBER CITY after the race did not show any significant findings. TOP SCORER and TREASURE RAIDERS were sent for sampling.
