Racing Incident Report

While in the holding stalls prior to the race, STARDANE lost its right hind plate. Before proceeding to the saddling stalls, the horse was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. On jumping, GREEN WARRIOR was crowded for room between KROVANH and KEEN FLYER which began awkwardly and shifted out. When crowded for room, GREEN WARRIOR bumped KROVANH on the hindquarters which as a result became unbalanced. STARDANE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, GREEN WARRIOR got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of KEEN FLYER which bumped the rail and lost ground. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, KROVANH was steadied to avoid the heels of EVER MORE after shifting out away from GREEN WARRIOR. In the Straight, when being ridden out, GREEN WARRIOR got its head up. While being ridden out in the Straight, ADAIKALI shifted ground on several occasions, causing G Mossé, its rider, to change whip hands. Throughout the race, OKEYDOKEY raced wide and without cover. R Fradd (KROVANH) said the horse got back in the run as anticipated. He said the horse became unbalanced making the turn at the 600 Metres and he therefore ensured the horse remained properly balanced until after straightening. He said shortly after straightening he commenced to ride KROVANH along hands and heels and slapped the horse down the right shoulder with the whip in an endeavour to have it pick up. He said he continued to slap KROVANH down the shoulder with the whip, but the horse did not feel properly balanced. He said at the 100 Metres he was going to hit the horse with the whip behind the saddle, however, when he took his hand from the rein KROVANH immediately became unbalanced, he therefore re-gathered and continued to ride the horse out hands and heels in the run to the line. R Fradd was told to ensure he properly tests his mounts where possible. B Prebble (KEEN FLYER), which performed poorly, reported his mount hung out throughout the race and did not feel comfortable in its action. KEEN FLYER and SALUT BEAUTE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KEEN FLYER and SALUT BEAUTE after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, KEEN FLYER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GREEN WARRIOR, FLYING SPRINTER and ADAIKALI were sent for sampling.
