Racing Incident Report

LEGIONNAIRE was withdrawn on 26.11.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory disease) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FEBURO (E Saint-Martin). Before being allowed to race again, LEGIONNAIRE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. JOIN VICTORY began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. Near the 1600 Metres, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE was steadied when crowded for room between BARRACUDA and DEFLECT which after having drawn the outside gate was taken back, then ridden along to improve inside KNIGHT TEMPLAR (B Prebble) and at this time was carried in by that horse. In the circumstances, B Prebble was advised to exercise more care. In the early stages, due to the pace of the race, FEBURO, WINNING RONGRONG and FORTUNE GOLD proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 1400 Metres, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of BARRACUDA. Near the 1200 Metres, MAIN ATTRACTION shifted out away from the rail and caused some inconvenience to WINNING RONGRONG. Making the Home Turn, SUPER IDEAL was unable to improve when racing behind SUNDAY DELIGHT. On straightening, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE was bumped on two occasions by NATIVE LANGUAGE which shifted out. At the 300 Metres, NATIVE LANGUAGE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of MOMENTUM. Over the final 200 Metres, SUPER IDEAL hung in. Throughout the race, WINNING RONGRONG hung out, on straightening and in the Straight shifted wider. Also throughout the race, KNIGHT TEMPLAR raced wide and without cover. MAIN ATTRACTION and DEFLECT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MAIN ATTRACTION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MAIN ATTRACTION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of DEFLECT after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE GOLD, SUNDAY DELIGHT and SUPER IDEAL were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported DENDRANTHEMA LOVE had bled from both nostrils.
