Racing Incident Report

DANEHILL WARRIOR was withdrawn on 10.2.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter OPTIC KING. Before being allowed to race again, DANEHILL WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. OPTIC KING was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was crowded for room between GUNG HO which shifted in slightly and SUPREME CLASS which began awkwardly and shifted out. PIONERO began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with ELFHELM which had been slightly slow to begin. TREASURE RAIDERS was slow to begin. From the outside gate, LUCKY DRAGON when being steadied to shift across behind runners got its head up. After the 1200 Metres, VINTAGE GOLD, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GUNG HO. Prior to straightening, HAPPY MASTER was steadied when awkwardly placed between LUCKY DRAGON and ELFHELM which at this time shifted out. Near the 400 Metres, PIONERO was steadied and shifted abruptly to the outside of SPINNING CITY to obtain clear running. For some distance after the 400 Metres, GUNG HO was held up and unable to improve behind FAIR WIN and SPINNING CITY. After the 300 Metres, SPINNING CITY was bumped by FAIR WIN which was carried out by SUPREME CLASS which in the Straight hung out badly. At this time, GUNG HO was steadied away from the heels of SPINNING CITY. About 30 Metres from the finish, GUNG HO was checked to avoid the heels of SUPREME CLASS which when continuing to hang out badly shifted ground abruptly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Just prior to the winning post, PIONERO was steadied away from the heels of SPINNING CITY which when giving ground shifted out slightly. Throughout the race, DR POSSI travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. DR POSSI was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DR POSSI after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPREME CLASS and GUNG HO were sent for sampling.
