Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, WELL NOTED became fractious and had its right hind leg momentarily caught on a partition inside the barrier. WELL NOTED was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. TOY QUEST was slow to begin. SOLAR was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room between SUNBELL and KING OF FISH, both of which shifted ground. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SYDNEY EXPRESS was crowded for room by DARE TO WIN which when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WELL NOTED was shifted out. No action was taken. On straightening, SUPER CEE JAY was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SOLAR. M Nunes (MOVE IT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he shifted his mount out when not clear of SYDNEY EXPRESS, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. M Nunes was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 5 February 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 28 January 2007. In addition, M Nunes was fined $30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Over the concluding stages, ROYAL FALCON was close to the heels of FRIENDSHIP and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. Just prior to the winning post, SUNBELL was crowded for room inside WELL NOTED (F Coetzee) which shifted in. As F Coetzee endeavoured to straighten his mount, no action was taken. Because of this crowding, SUNBELL was not ridden out right to the end of the race as it normally would be. For the major part of the race, KING OF FISH travelled wide and without cover. SYDNEY EXPRESS and BODACIOUS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SYDNEY EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, BODACIOUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. DARE TO WIN, MOVE IT and TOY QUEST were sent for sampling.
