Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, JUBILOSO and HAPPY FIT, which had been a little slow to begin, were checked when crowded for room between PICTURE PERFECT which shifted out and FOREVER FORTUNE which shifted in after making contact with NOBLE ZOOM. With the intention of being ridden quietly, COP HILL LAD was taken back in the early stages. Near the 1200 Metres, HAPPY MASTER was checked to avoid the heels of TERRAFERMA (Apprentice H W Lai) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Lai was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Near the 1000 Metres, HAPPY FIT, which was racing ungenerously, was steadied away from the heels of TIRAMISU which shifted out. After this, HAPPY FIT continued to race ungenerously and making the turn near the 800 Metres got its head on the side and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of FOREVER FORTUNE. BIG KAHUNA was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY FIT in consequence. For some distance after the 700 Metres, TERRAFERMA, which was racing keenly, was steadied away from the heels of NOBLE ZOOM. Throughout the race, FEEL-SO-GOOD travelled wide and without cover. D Nikolic (JUBILOSO) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse which often hangs in for inside runs if possible as it was believed JUBILOSO would be best suited ridden in this manner considering its current form and weight. He said entering the Home Straight he was following HAPPY MASTER and he shifted to the outside of that horse to be behind PICTURE PERFECT which commenced to give ground. He said having in mind his riding instructions, near the 300 Metres he shifted back to a position behind HAPPY MASTER rather than shifting to the outside of PICTURE PERFECT were a narrow run existed on the inside of TIRAMISU. He said he felt HAPPY MASTER was going forward at this time, however, after that horse reached the lead after the 200 Metres, it did not go on as he had expected. He said at this time he shifted to the outside of HAPPY MASTER and JUBILOSO responded fairly to his riding. TERRAFERMA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TERRAFERMA after the race did not show any significant findings. FOREVER FORTUNE, TIRAMISU and HAPPY MASTER were sent for sampling.
