Racing Incident Report
SOLDIER ON began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall, then shifted further, made contact with the hindquarters of STRAIGHT VICTORY and as a consequence lost ground. On jumping, LUCKY DRAGON was crowded for room between WILD ACE and MAKE A MINT. Shortly after the start, CHATER DE LAGO was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between WINWIN COMBO and BAJAN BELL. From a wide barrier, in the early stages, FISHKING EXCELLENT travelled wide and without cover, then after the 1000 Metres was ridden to go forward and cross to the lead. In the middle stages, BAJAN BELL was left racing wide and without cover. At the 700 Metres, CHINA HERO became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of MAKE A MINT. After the 700 Metres, LUCKY DRAGON became unbalanced when racing close to the heels of WILD ACE and tight inside BAJAN BELL. At the 600 Metres, STRAIGHT VICTORY was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHATER DE LAGO. Prior to straightening, CHINA HERO was again steadied away from the heels of MAKE A MINT. After the 400 Metres, CHINA HERO hung out, then after the 200 Metres hung in. For some distance after the 200 Metres, SOLDIER ON, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied when unable to obtain clear running. At the 150 Metres, SOLDIER ON was shifted to the inside of MAKE A MINT to continue going forward. G Mossé (LUCKY DRAGON) was fined $3,000 for improper use of the whip in that he struck his mount over the nose with his whip after passing the winning post. LUCKY DRAGON was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. WILD ACE, FIRST KNIGHT and CHINA HERO were sent for sampling.
