Racing Incident Report
SHINING DAY was withdrawn on 22.3.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of blood in trachea on scoping). Before being allowed to race again, SHINING DAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WONG'S SUCCESS was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, from a wide gate, with the intention of being ridden with cover, CHAMP DRAGON was taken across behind runners. Making the first turn, WONG'S SUCCESS and FUJIAN PRINCE were crowded for room inside JOYFUL YEARS which shifted in. After the 1400 Metres, JOYFUL YEARS got its head on the side, hung in and was steadied away from the heels of WONG'S SUCCESS. FUJIAN PRINCE, which was following JOYFUL YEARS, was steadied in consequence. After this, JOYFUL YEARS continued to hang in. In the early stages, CHINSOLA proved difficult to settle. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, CHAMP DRAGON shifted in and bumped the running rail. Shortly after straightening, WONG'S SUCCESS was steadied and shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running, however, for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres was held up and unable to improve between SOUND OF SILENCE and SIR OCTAVIUS. Approaching the 100 Metres, SIR OCTAVIUS was steadied when crowded for room between FUJIAN PRINCE which shifted in and JOYFUL YEARS which was carried out by CHEERFUL HAPPINESS which shifted away from CHINSOLA. Y T Cheng (SOUND OF SILENCE) explained he rode his mount along in the early stages in an attempt to go forward, however, he was not able to cross runners to his inside and as a consequence travelled wide and without cover. He said after entering the Back Straight he did consider endeavouring to again go forward in an attempt to cross and race close to the fence, however, in his opinion he would have been required to make too much use of his horse to have done so. SOUND OF SILENCE, PILLOW KING and CHAMP DRAGON were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SOUND OF SILENCE, PILLOW KING and CHAMP DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. FUJIAN PRINCE and JOYFUL YEARS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported FUJIAN PRINCE had sustained a cut to its left front cannon.
