Racing Incident Report

FIRST BABY and MAINLAND SHUTTLE were slow to begin. DANEHILL WARRIOR began awkwardly and bumped with DREAM HORSE. Approaching the 1000 Metres, JOY AND FUN was carried into a three wide position by SAFETY FIRST which at this time shifted off the rail from behind DANEHILL WARRIOR. Near the 800 Metres, MAINLAND SHUTTLE was steadied away from the heels of FIRST BABY. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MUTUAL FUN, which was awkwardly placed between FIRST BABY and RICH FOR ALL, got its head up, shifted out and was checked away from the heels of RICH FOR ALL. From on straightening until the 200 Metres, FIRST BABY was held up and unable to improve. At the 300 Metres, MAINLAND SHUTTLE was shifted out to go forward. After the 200 Metres, DREAM HORSE, which when giving ground was inclined to lay out, was steadied to avoid the heels of FIRST BABY which at this time shifted to the inside of SAFETY FIRST to obtain clear running. In the circumstances, no action was taken. In the Straight, GO JOHNNY GO hung in. B Prebble (GO JOHNNY GO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that prior to the winning post he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount which was hanging in from shifting ground when not clear of MUTUAL FUN, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. When MUTUAL FUN checked, SAFETY FIRST, which was inclined to hang out, was steadied away from the heels of that horse. B Prebble was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 26 April 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 18 April 2007. In addition, B Prebble was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Almost right on the winning post, JOY AND FUN was bumped by GO JOHNNY GO which shifted further. Near the winning post, JUBILOSO was steadied away from the heels of MAINLAND SHUTTLE which shifted out. For the major part of the race, RICH FOR ALL travelled wide and without cover. The performance of DANEHILL WARRIOR, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DANEHILL WARRIOR will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. B Prebble explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in 5th or 6th position. He said after beginning well he allowed GO JOHNNY GO from its wide barrier to become balanced and shift in to a midfield position. He said he rode along to maintain that position for a short distance after the 1400 Metres, however, because of the manner in which GO JOHNNY GO was travelling, he felt it was in the horse's best interest to stop riding along and allow it to travel where it was comfortable which was further back than anticipated. C K Tong (NOBLE CONQUEROR) explained in the early part of the Straight he had difficulty obtaining clear running and then after the 200 Metres he was disadvantaged in riding his mount out due to the manner in which it was hanging in. FIRST BABY, GO JOHNNY GO and JOY AND FUN were sent for sampling.
