Racing Incident Report

As the gates opened, MILITARY OPTION lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly. SABRE AND GOLD knuckled over at the start. PROGRESSING TIMES was slow to begin. TRAVEL LEADER began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SILVER MARK. SILVER MARK then raced tight for some distance between TRAVEL LEADER and CHINOOK which got its head on the side and shifted in away from TABBRIS. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHINOOK got its head up when being steadied to allow TABBRIS to cross to the lead. TRAVEL LEADER, which was following CHINOOK, shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of that horse, resulting in MILITARY OPTION being crowded for room on the inside of SABRE AND GOLD. After this, TRAVEL LEADER proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 1000 Metres, PROGRESSING TIMES raced tight inside MILITARY OPTION which got its head on the side when close to the heels of TRAVEL LEADER. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CHINOOK was awkwardly placed inside SUDDEN SPLENDOR which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. At the same stage, TRAVEL LEADER was briefly crowded for room between CHINOOK and SABRE AND GOLD, both of which shifted ground. For some distance approaching and passing the 100 Metres, ALL OUR WAY had some difficulty obtaining clear running behind TRAVEL LEADER. Throughout the race, SABRE AND GOLD travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned, D Whyte (G-ONE LEADING) stated he had been instructed to have the horse race in a forward position and if the pace was not overly strong to lead on the horse. He stated in the early stages G-ONE LEADING did not show sufficient pace to go forward and for this reason he was obliged to take the horse back in an endeavour to find cover. He added throughout the race G-ONE LEADING did not stride out as he felt it should and at no stage of the race was he happy with the horse's action. He stated he placed G-ONE LEADING under full pressure rounding the Home Turn, however, the horse did not respond to his riding in the Straight. G-ONE LEADING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, G-ONE LEADING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, G-ONE LEADING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPER GOAL MASTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. SABRE AND GOLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER GOAL MASTER and SABRE AND GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. SILVER MARK and TABBRIS were sent for sampling.
