Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, FANTUZZI was checked when crowded for room between MASTERY and ESPERANZA which shifted in after being bumped by SILVER MARK. In the early stages, SILVER MARK hung in and near the 1700 Metres shifted ground and bumped ESPERANZA. At the 1500 Metres, QUEST FOR LOVE and EYE WITNESS raced tight inside WONG'S SUCCESS. At the 1300 Metres, SUPER DANA became unbalanced after being bumped by SILVER MARK. As a consequence, SUPER DANA shifted out, causing SILVER MARK to be carried out, resulting in WONG'S SUCCESS to be checked and shifted out away from the heels of SILVER MARK. BEST POWER, which was following, was hampered in consequence. After the 1000 Metres, BEST POWER was left racing without cover. After the 500 Metres, PRIME DELIGHT was hampered and crowded for room between MASTERY and QUEST FOR LOVE (D Whyte) which at this time shifted to the outside of SUPER DANA in an attempt to go forward. D Whyte was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. Shortly after straightening, QUEST FOR LOVE was steadied when disappointed for running between EQUATOR KID and BEST POWER (Y T Cheng) which got its head on the side and shifted in. Y T Cheng was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. B Prebble (SILVER MARK) said because of the increase in distance of tonight's race and the outside barrier together with the fact the horse had a light weight, he was instructed to ride the horse into a forward position in what was anticipated to be a moderately run race. He said to ride SILVER MARK as usual around midfield would have resulted in the horse travelling wide and without cover. He did say on one occasion previously when leading over the same distance at Sha Tin, SILVER MARK had run 2nd. He said tonight after being ridden along in the early stages to carry out his riding instructions, SILVER MARK then did not relax throughout the race and as a consequence after the 200 Metres gave ground quickly. He did say in his opinion tonight's run indicated that SILVER MARK is best suited when ridden in a position with cover. A Delpech (EQUATOR KID) said after passing the winning post on the first occasion his mount became unbalanced in its action. He said he momentarily considered easing EQUATOR KID out of the race, however, near the 1200 Metres the horse appeared to have regained its balance and as a result he continued on in the race. Apprentice H W Lai (SUPER DANA) reported he noted the horse had got its tongue over the bit during the race. BEST POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BEST POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. PRIME DELIGHT and FANTUZZI were sent for sampling.
