Racing Incident Report

HANDSOME TARGET was slow to begin. On jumping, MONEY MAN stumbled and lost ground. PICKETT began awkwardly. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, HANDSOME TARGET was hampered by BRILLIANT ONE which was checked to avoid the heels of RAINBOW OASIS which when proving difficult to settle shifted out slightly when being steadied away from the heels of PICKETT. After the 700 Metres, TAIJI SPIRIT was carried wider by RAINBOW OASIS which when continuing to prove difficult to settle shifted out. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, BILLION hung out. On a number of occasions approaching and passing the 600 Metres, MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of the runners in front. Prior to straightening, HANDSOME TARGET was bumped by BRILLIANT ONE which shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, MAGIC TEMPLE was steadied and shifted to the outside to obtain clear running. In the Straight, HANDSOME TARGET hung out. Because of this, near the 300 Metres B Prebble changed the whip into his left hand. K Shea (TAIJI SPIRIT) said from an awkward barrier it was felt that the horse did not have sufficient speed to obtain a forward position in this race. He said because of this he was asked to ride the horse in a position around midfield with cover if possible. PICKETT, TAIJI SPIRIT and SIAMERIC TE SPECSO were sent for sampling.
