Racing Incident Report

WALKONTHEWILDSIDE began awkwardly, bumped the outside of its stall and lost ground. JOY AND FUN began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall, then made contact with EXCELLENT BOY. As a result of this, JOY AND FUN lost ground and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. From a wide barrier, NATURAL NINE was taken across behind runners. At the 1500 Metres, TOWERING FEELING, which was shifting across behind runners, was steadied away from the heels of SUPER TRAVELLER. After the 1400 Metres, LU YUE, which commenced to over-race, was steadied away from the heels of SUNNY KING. Throughout the race, SUPER TRAVELLER raced wide and without cover and making the Home Turn hung out. In the Straight, LU YUE hung in. D Whyte (TOWERING FEELING) explained his mount travelled comfortably in the run, however, when placed under pressure in the Straight did not respond to his riding. He said near the 300 Metres TOWERING FEELING commenced to make an abnormal breathing noise and gave ground. He said because of this he did not ride his mount out over the concluding stages. TOWERING FEELING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, TOWERING FEELING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a “roarer”. SKYVIEW BAR and WALKONTHEWILDSIDE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SKYVIEW BAR and WALKONTHEWILDSIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. SUNNY KING and PRIME SCORE were sent for sampling.
