Racing Incident Report

While in the holding stalls, THE WITCH'S BROOM had an adjustment made to its left hind plate. THE WITCH'S BROOM was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NOBLE SILENCE stood flat-footed when the gates opened and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE SILENCE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. DUMBARTON ROCK, which was standing badly, knuckled on jumping and lost ground. K T Yeung (WEI HAI INVINCIBLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BILLION, causing that horse to be checked, shift out and in turn caused crowding to POS TRUMPS which as a result lost its rightful running. K T Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 24 November 2008 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Monday 17 November 2008 on which day K T Yeung was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Sha Tin racemeeting last Sunday. In addition, K T Yeung was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. At the 1300 Metres, HAPPY CRUSADER, which commenced to over-race, was steadied away from the heels of UNIQUE SPEED which was also racing ungenerously. In the early part of the Straight, UNIQUE SPEED had difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, BILLION, which was inclined to lay out, was reluctant to improve into narrow running on the inside of WEI HAI INVINCIBLE. For the major part of the race, DASHING THUNDER travelled wide and without cover. K L Chui (MASTER DREAMER) explained from the outside barrier he was told to allow the horse to begin and then shift to a position with cover if possible in about midfield. He said MASTER DREAMER began satisfactorily, he did not ride along in the early stages and initially shifted across to race outside DASHING THUNDER. He said approaching the winning post on the first occasion when it appeared DASHING THUNDER would be left racing wide and without cover, he steadied MASTER DREAMER and shifted back to a position near the rear. He said MASTER DREAMER travelled satisfactorily throughout the race and in the Straight closed off one-paced. MASTER DREAMER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MASTER DREAMER after the race did not show any significant findings. BILLION, WEI HAI INVINCIBLE and THE WITCH'S BROOM were sent for sampling.
