Racing Incident Report

On jumping, from outside barriers, CHARMGOLD and BRILLIANT ONE were taken back. BLUE SKY was slow to begin. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, BLUE SKY and MASCOT FORTUNE were crowded for room inside BUCCANEER which had its head on the side and was hanging in. After entering the Back Straight, FLYING GALLOP was left racing wide and without cover. Over the final 150 Metres, YUE LU TREASURE, which was closing the race off strongly, was shifted wider on the track to continue going forward. In the run to the line, FLYING GALLOP was awkwardly placed outside the heels of YUE LU TREASURE. Because of this, FLYING GALLOP was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. D Whyte (BRILLIANT ONE), which travelled in a rearward position, explained after straightening he placed his mount under hands and heels pressure and whilst it made ground it did not quicken appreciably. He said after the 200 Metres when BRILLIANT ONE commenced to close the race off more strongly he was obliged to steady when he was not able to obtain clear running behind horses which were giving ground. He said after the 100 Metres he was able to shift BRILLIANT ONE out into clear running. BRILLIANT ONE and TOWKAY FLYER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT ONE and TOWKAY FLYER after the race did not show any significant findings. LONGWAH RISING, MASCOT FORTUNE and BUCCANEER were sent for sampling.
