Racing Incident Report

As B Doyle, the declared rider of ROMPING, was overweight, permission was given for J Victoire to be substituted. B Doyle was fined $5,000 for accepting this ride when overweight [Rule 88(5)]. TOWERING FEELING began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. ENERGIZED was slow to begin. DIEGO was slow into stride. On jumping, LU YUE knuckled, then despite being ridden along took time to muster speed. Near the 1100 Metres, ENERGIZED lost its position when crowded for room between ANKH MORPORK and TOWERING FEELING. At the 900 Metres, due to the tempo of the race steadying, a number of runners were inconvenienced, the worst sufferers being DIEGO, SOLAR ENERGY, FERRO BEAU and TOWERING FEELING, all of which became unbalanced and lost ground. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, REDRAGTOABULL was carried wider by MEDIC FORTUNE which got its head up and shifted out after being steadied away from the heels of INTERCHINA STAR. After this, REDRAGTOABULL travelled without cover. Passing the 600 Metres, SOLAR ENERGY, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of BULLISH WIN. For a considerable distance after straightening, DIEGO was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Over about the final 100 Metres, LU YUE was unable to obtain clear running and because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. When questioned, Z Purton (SOLAR ENERGY) said he had been instructed to ride his mount behind midfield. He said he had been advised SOLAR ENERGY was disappointing last start in the manner in which it finished the race off after travelling in a forward position. Following the race, B Prebble (ISLAND SUPER) reported his mount had its tongue over the bit during the race. DIEGO, ROMPING and REDRAGTOABULL were sent for sampling.
