Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, HARRY HARRY became fractious and got its right hind leg caught over the back gate of its stall. Acting on veterinary advice that HARRY HARRY was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being allowed to race again, HARRY HARRY will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, TRAVEL LEADER got its head up, then was allowed to drift back to a rearward position and approaching the 1400 Metres commenced to over-race. Near the 1500 Metres, EVER KING, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of HAPPY ALL AROUND (Apprentice M Chadwick) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Chadwick was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Shortly after straightening, MEGA BULLET was bumped by ROCKET AND GOLD which was endeavouring to shift out to obtain clear running. After the 400 Metres, LIVERBIRD was steadied and shifted to the outside of CLASSIC ENERGY to obtain clear running. For a considerable distance approaching the 200 Metres, GALLANT MASTER had difficulty obtaining clear running. After the 100 Metres, ROCKET AND GOLD was checked away from the heels of GALLANT MASTER (C K Tong) which got its head on the side and shifted out. C K Tong was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. When questioned regarding the poor performance of WIN MORE, Z Purton said his mount was not able to lead today, however, travelled comfortably in a forward position. He said in his opinion WIN MORE settled better today than it did when it was successful at its most recent start. He said WIN MORE felt uncomfortable in its action on today’s surface and did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure after straightening. WIN MORE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WIN MORE after the race did not show any significant findings. CLASSIC ENERGY and WONG’S SUCCESS were sent for sampling.
