Racing Incident Report

CIRCULAR MACHINE was slow into stride. From the wide barrier, FULL PACK was taken back. From on straightening until the 200 Metres, BEAR MACHO was held up and unable to improve. For a considerable distance after straightening, HONGKONG SUPERSTAR had difficulty obtaining clear running and after the 250 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by SUPERIOR UNIT. Throughout the race, PLAN B travelled wide and without cover. B Prebble (CANNONISE) said he was instructed to lead on the horse if possible. He said CANNONISE began well, however, shortly after the start did not appear to be striding out as he felt it should. He said in the run to the turn at the 1000 Metres CANNONISE became unbalanced in its action and shifted wider on the track. He said he did consider easing CANNONISE out of the race as he was concerned over the manner in which the horse was travelling. CANNONISE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CANNONISE after the race did not show any significant findings. In the circumstances, the performance of CANNONISE was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, CANNONISE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPERIOR UNIT and PLAN B were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPERIOR UNIT and PLAN B after the race did not show any significant findings. WILLING STORM and VENI VEDI VICI were sent for sampling.
