Racing Incident Report

AMITYSHIP was slow to begin. H W Lai (LOTUS LOVE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of TREMENDOUS ADD, resulting in that horse being taken in onto BELIEVE IN CHANGE which in turn was taken in across the rightful running of HORSE WIN WIN. As a result, HORSE WIN WIN was taken in across the rightful running of AMITYSHIP, causing AMITYSHIP to be checked and SPARKLING to be hampered.. H W Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 13 May 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Wednesday, 5 May 2010. After this incident, HORSE WIN WIN was checked away from the heels of BELIEVE IN CHANGE which got its head on the side and shifted in away from TREMENDOUS ADD. In this incident, HORSE WIN WIN bumped BEAUTIFUL CHOICE which became unbalanced. For some distance approaching the 1200 Metres, BEAUTIFUL CHOICE proved difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BELIEVE IN CHANGE. B Doyle (MAKE IT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HORSE WIN WIN, causing that horse to be checked and lose its rightful running. B Doyle was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 13 May 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Wednesday, 5 May 2010. In addition, B Doyle was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. GOLDMEN Y Y was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 400 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of SPARKLING to improve its position. For the majority of the race, SUPER GENTLEMAN travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, J Lloyd stated that he had previously ridden PRIVATE ROAD on a number of occasions and in each of these races the horse had travelled well during the run and had finished off the race. He said today PRIVATE ROAD changed stride on a number of occasions during the race and when he placed it under pressure at the top of the Straight, the horse indicated to him as though it may have bled. He said for this reason he eased the horse down over the final stages. A veterinary inspection of PRIVATE ROAD after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, PRIVATE ROAD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of AMITYSHIP after the race did not show any significant findings. BELIEVE IN CHANGE and TREMENDOUS ADD were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MAKE IT had sustained a laceration wound to the outside of the left hind cannon. Before being allowed to race again, MAKE IT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
