Racing Incident Report

MY MELODY was withdrawn on 17.3.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FAST INTENTIONS (W C Marwing). Before being allowed to race again, MY MELODY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being loaded, YOUNG SUPREME became fractious, reared and sat down momentarily, resulting in M L Yeung, its rider, being dislodged. Also after being loaded, SPEEDY became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, YOUNG SUPREME and SPEEDY will both be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. TELECOM NEW STAR and SPARKLING were crowded for room at the start between SUNSEEEKR and GORGEOUS LIFE which shifted out. From wider barriers, YOUNG SUPREME and GOOD LOOKING WATCH were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being steadied away from the heels of HOT PEPPER making the first turn near the 850 Metres, WELL FIT got its head on the side and shifted out towards the hindquarters of TAKE BY STORM. JUST GOOD, which was following, was inconvenienced. In the Straight, SPARKLING hung in and proved difficult to ride. After the 200 Metres, GREY WHIZZ was crowded for room between SPARKLING which was continuing to hang in and SUNSEEKER which shifted out and away from JUST GOOD. Throughout the race, GREY WHIZZ travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of FAST INTENTIONS after the race did not show any significant findings. MR AWARD and GORGEOUS LIFE were sent for sampling.
<19/3/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> FAST INTENTIONS, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FAST INTENTIONS was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D E Ferraris this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FAST INTENTIONS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
