Racing Incident Report
COSMO ONE began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN which shifted out.
SURE CHAMP was slow to begin.
From wide barriers, STORM UNICORN and HAPPY SCORE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Shortly after the start, JADE CHRISTY got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly, resulting in TIPPERARY DAVOR being crowded for room and being taken in onto FLUKE which was inconvenienced.
From after the winning post on the first occasion and for the majority of the remainder of the race, CARE FREE PEGASUS travelled wide and without cover.
When being steadied to allow HINYUEN PALADIN to cross after passing the winning post on the first occasion, JADE CHRISTY, which was racing with blinkers reapplied tonight, commenced to over-race and then for some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres got its head up repeatedly when being checked away from the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN. Then approaching the 1100 Metres, JADE CHRISTY again commenced to over-race and shifted away from the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN when being severely checked away from the heels of that horse. As a result, JADE CHRISTY shifted out and bumped COSMO ONE which became unbalanced for some distance when taken wider by JADE CHRISTY. JADE CHRISTY continued to over-race and after the 900 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of COSMO ONE and allowed to improve its position. The performance of JADE CHRISTY was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, JADE CHRISTY must barrier trial in a satisfactory and tractable manner around a bend.
Near the 900 Metres, FLUKE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TIPPERARY DAVOR.
In the early part of the Straight, STORM UNICORN was held up for clear running when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLUKE.
C W Wong (HORSESHOE FORTUNE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SURE CHAMP, resulting in that horse being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled when crowded for room between HORSESHOE FORTUNE and HINYUEN PALADIN. C W Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 10 January 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Friday, 28 December 2012. After this, SURE CHAMP was not able to obtain clear running until the concluding stages.
Near the 250 Metres, JADE CHRISTY, which was commencing to give ground, momentarily raced in restricted room between COSMO ONE and SUPREME GENKI which shifted out.
Passing the 150 Metres, SUPREME GENKI shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of COSMO ONE which became unbalanced. A short distance later, SUPREME GENKI was steadied away from the heels of HORSESHOE FORTUNE which shifted out.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TIPPERARY DAVOR had lost its left hind plate.
A veterinary inspection of SUPREME GENKI and SURE CHAMP after the race did not show any significant findings.
SURE CHAMP, FLUKE and SUPER TIGER were sent for sampling.
