Racing Incident Report

FINN MACCOOL was withdrawn on 31.3.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUPREME FLIGHT (Apprentice C Y Lui). Before being allowed to race again, FINN MACCOOL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MAGNUMOUS began awkwardly.
THE FAST LANE began only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between BRIGHT STAR and OWNERS’ GLORY, both of which shifted ground.
Shortly after the start, BOMBER JET was bumped by LONGWAH INVINCIBLE which shifted in. After this, BOMBER JET was ridden along in an attempt to obtain a more forward position.
From a wide barrier, JUN JU was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, BRIGHT STAR was steadied away from the heels of MAGNUMOUS which was taken in by POLYMER WIN (T Clark) which shifted in when not properly clear. T Clark was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.
Near the 900 Metres, BRIGHT STAR got its head up when racing close to the heels of MAGNUMOUS.
Passing the 300 Metres, BOMBER JET was shifted in away from the heels of MAGNUMOUS to obtain clear running.
In the Straight, GOLDEN GUNNERS hung in and proved difficult to ride.
Throughout the race, GOLDWEAVER travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, the riders of both LUCKY WARRIOR and LONGWAH INVINCIBLE reported their mounts had made abnormal breathing noises during the race. An endoscopic examination of LUCKY WARRIOR found that horse to be a “roarer” as had previously been reported. It was also noted that LUCKY WARRIOR had lost its left front plate. A veterinary examination of LONGWAH INVINCIBLE immediately following the race did not reveal any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN SCALPEL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPREME FLIGHT and BOMBER JET were sent for sampling.
