Racing Incident Report
FABULOUS ONE began awkwardly, shifted in at the start and bumped WINNER’S WAY.
From the outside barrier, BORN IN CHINA was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, WISHFUL THINKER was crowded for room between CALIFORNIA FORTUNE and SOUTHERN LEGEND which shifted out. After racing in restricted room for a short distance, WISHFUL THINKER was then steadied passing the 1100 Metres when again crowded for room between SOUTHERN LEGEND and CALIFORNIA FORTUNE (K C Ng) which shifted in marginally before being corrected by its rider. K C Ng was severely reprimanded and advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that SOUTHERN LEGEND shifting out had played a significant role in this incident, nonetheless he must ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners.
Passing the 1000 Metres, WISHFUL THINKER raced tight outside SOUTHERN LEGEND. Then near the 950 Metres, WISHFUL THINKER, which continued to race tight outside SOUTHERN LEGEND, lost ground after being awkwardly placed outside SOUTHERN LEGEND as a result of shifting in away from JUMBO LUCK.
Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, FABULOUS ONE got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
A veterinary inspection of SOUTHERN LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of FABULOUS ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
A veterinary inspection of JUMBO LUCK immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JUMBO LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WINNER’S WAY and BORN IN CHINA were sent for sampling.
