Racing Incident Report

GLORIOUS DRAGON began awkwardly and lost ground.
KUNGFUMASTER PANDA was slow to begin.
PACKING WARRIOR shifted in at the start and bumped CHEERFUL STAR. CHEERFUL STAR was then steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
From a wide barrier, RULE THEE was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DYNAMIC EAGLE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PIKACHU.
Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, GLORIOUS DRAGON got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed behind DYNAMIC EAGLE.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, despite being ridden along, PIKACHU was unable to maintain its position behind HAPPY DRAGON. Then passing the 1300 Metres, PIKACHU was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of ROCKETEER which shifted in.
Throughout the race, PACKING WARRIOR travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of TRAVEL FIRST, Mr C H Yip, the trainer of TRAVEL FIRST, stated that whilst the horse had not been beaten by big margins in its recent races on the turf, nonetheless it had raced disappointingly. He said he was of the opinion that TRAVEL FIRST was suited when ridden in a forward position as the track appeared to be favouring horses on the speed in a number of races conducted tonight. He said when able to race in a forward position, TRAVEL FIRST relaxed better which resulted in the horse being able to finish off its race. He said he had not altered the track work of TRAVEL FIRST in the lead up to tonight’s race with the horse travelling up to Conghua Racecourse in between races which was consistent with the manner in which he had prepared the horse for all of its recent races. He added whilst he felt that TRAVEL FIRST carrying a light weight would be to its advantage, nonetheless he did not anticipate that the horse would be able to perform as well as it did.
HAPPY DRAGON, TRAVEL FIRST and GLORIOUS DRAGON were sent for sampling.
