Racing Incident Report

CANTSTOPTHEFEELING shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of METRO WARRIOR, causing both horses to become unbalanced and for CANTSTOPTHEFEELING to lose ground.
From the outside barriers, XPONENTIAL, SEVEN HEAVENS and TELECOM JAC were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING and CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT bumped. Making the turn near the 600 Metres, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING raced tight between BEAUTY SPARK and TOP SCORE which got its head on the side and lay in. After the race, A Badel stated that after this CANTSTOPTHEFEELING came under heavy pressure and he had to ride his mount along passing the 500 Metres to maintain its position. He said after following the eventual winner AMAZING KIWI into the Straight, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING was disappointing in the manner in which it finished off the race. A veterinary inspection of CANTSTOPTHEFEELING immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.

For the major part of the race, TOP SCORE travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, Z Purton reported that METRO WARRIOR was making an abnormal breathing noise during the race. A veterinary inspection of METRO WARRIOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SEVEN HEAVENS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
METRO WARRIOR, AMAZING KIWI and FLYING BONUS were sent for sampling.
<24/9/2020 Additional Veterinary Report>METRO WARRIOR, which was reported by Jockey Z Purton to be making an abnormal breathing noise during the race, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. METRO WARRIOR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D A Hayes this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front and right hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, METRO WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
