Racing Incident Report

ALL IN MIND, which proved difficult to load, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being allowed to race again.
HAPPY FUN was crowded for room on jumping between PAS MALOTRU and GUNNISON which got its head up and shifted in. Then a short distance after the start, HAPPY FUN was again steadied away from the heels of GUNNISON which shifted in.
Shortly after the start, VICTORIAM and DUKE WAI were crowded for room between HIGHLY PROACTIVE and CALIFORNIA RAD which shifted in. After this, from wide barriers, VICTORIAM and DUKE WAI were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Passing the 1000 Metres, VICTORIAM got its head up when travelling very keenly and racing tight inside the heels of ALL IN MIND.
When being steadied to allow TEAM SPIRIT to cross passing the 900 Metres, HIGHLY PROACTIVE got its head up on a number of occasions and then made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly. CALIFORNIA RAD, which was following, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse in consequence and shifted in, inconveniencing ALL IN MIND. After this, HIGHLY PROACTIVE travelled wide and without cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, GUNNISON got its head up and travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind TEAM SPIRIT.
Approaching the 700 Metres, BALTIC SUCCESS, which was laying out, was taken wider by ALL IN MIND which was taken out by SKY FIELD which shifted out when racing close to the heels of HAPPY FUN. After this, BALTIC SUCCESS continued to race with its head on the side and lay out making the turn.
Approaching the 500 Metres, SHINING ACE and CALIFORNIA RAD bumped.
At the entrance to the Straight, SKY FIELD shifted out and bumped ALL IN MIND, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
HAPPY FUN was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 400 Metres, VICTORIAM improved into tight running inside PAS MALOTRU.
Approaching the 200 Metres, GUNNISON raced tight inside TEAM SPIRIT.
Approaching the 150 Metres, PAS MALOTRU raced in restricted room between GUNNISON and VICTORIAM which shifted out.
When questioned, Mr C S Shum, trainer of BALTIC SUCCESS, stated that having drawn the outside barrier over 1200 Metres, he was concerned that if BALTIC SUCCESS were to be ridden forward, the horse would be left racing very wide and would not make the turns as it had previously been inclined to lay out when rounding bends. He said he anticipated that today’s race would be run at a strong tempo as there were a number of horses engaged in the race which would ordinarily take up a forward position. He said as he did not feel that it would be available for BALTIC SUCCESS to clear those horses to race close to the rail, he instructed H T Mo to shift the horse across behind runners in the early stages and attempt to obtain cover in order to have it settle and with a view to finishing off the race.
After the race, J Moreira stated that, in his opinion, SKY FIELD was somewhat disappointing in today’s race. He said although the horse became unbalanced at the top of the Straight, he did not blame this for the horse’s failure to quicken in the early part of the Straight as it had previously when ridden by him.
A veterinary inspection of ALL IN MIND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WINNING DREAMER and BEAUTY APPLAUSE were sent for sampling.
<14/12/2020 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that VICTORIAM was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, VICTORIAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
