Racing Incident Report
GAMEPLAYER STAR was withdrawn on 9.2.21 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HAPPY WARRIOR (N Callan). Before being allowed to race again, GAMEPLAYER STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY FORTUNE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.
ZHAN JIANG ROCKS shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GLORIOUS LOVER.
From wide barriers, STAR OF RED and TOP SCORE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, EVER LAUGH travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind HAPPY WARRIOR.
Passing the 1000 Metres, HAPPY FORTUNE commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS which was awkwardly placed behind DIAMOND STAR. In this incident, HAPPY FORTUNE shifted out away from the heels of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS, resulting in STAR OF RED being hampered and taken wider.
Passing the 300 Metres, VILLA FIONN was checked away from the heels of CALIFORNIA LEGEND when held up for clear running behind that horse. Then near the 250 Metres, VILLA FIONN was checked when attempting to improve into tight running between CALIFORNIA LEGEND and GLORIOUS LOVER (J Moreira) which shifted in. As the Stewards were satisfied that VILLA FIONN had not established running between CALIFORNIA LEGEND and GLORIOUS LOVER, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise Jockey Moreira to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
A veterinary inspection of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS and CALIFORNIA LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GLORIOUS LOVER, GALLANT CROWN and RIGHT HONOURABLE were sent for sampling.
