Racing Incident Report

MAKE IT TURBO was slow to begin.
MORE THAN ENOUGH shifted out at the start and bumped CHARIZARD which became unbalanced.
Shortly after the start, SEAWEED FORTUNE and FAST PACE were crowded for room on jumping between ERNEST FEELING and FREE FOAL, both of which shifted ground.
V CHEVALIERS was crowded for room on jumping between CHEERFUL LEADER and JOLLY HONOUR, both of which shifted ground. After this, both V CHEVALIERS and JOLLY HONOUR were steadied and shifted across behind runners.
From the outside barrier, CHATER PINS was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
CHEERFUL LEADER was ridden along for a considerable distance to take up a forward position and travelled wide and without cover until near the 1000 Metres.
Passing the 1000 Metres, ERNEST FEELING raced tight inside the heels of FREE FOAL.
Approaching the 500 Metres, CHARIZARD was taken wider by FAST PACE which shifted to the outside of FREE FOAL.
Approaching the 400 Metres, CHATER PINS was steadied away from the heels of MORE THAN ENOUGH.
Near the 150 Metres, CHATER PINS was shifted in away from the heels of FAST PACE which was giving ground.
After the race, B Shinn stated that he was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of FAST PACE. He said FAST PACE enjoyed a good run throughout the race behind the leaders and after obtaining clear running prior to the Home Turn then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of FAST PACE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that it was intended from barrier 5 for ERNEST FEELING to be ridden in a more forward position and hopefully obtain a position behind the lead. He said he had to make more use of ERNEST FEELING in the early stages to obtain a forward position as CHARIZARD and MORE THAN ENOUGH initially maintained their positions to the inside of ERNEST FEELING. He said after shifting across to race in the lead approaching the 1200 Metres, he then steadied ERNEST FEELING to obtain cover behind CHEERFUL LEADER. He added whilst ERNEST FEELING was momentarily held up rounding the Home Turn when other horses were improving their positions out wide, he was able to obtain clear running at the entrance to the Straight and he was of the opinion that the horse then finished off the race only fairly. He said he did recommend to connections that they consider riding the horse more quietly than it was today in an endeavour to have it finish off its races more strongly. A veterinary inspection of ERNEST FEELING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of FREE FOAL and CHEERFUL LEADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ERNEST FEELING, SEAWEED FORTUNE and CHARIZARD were sent for sampling.
