Racing Incident Report

DEAR SIBLING was withdrawn on 28.5.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (heart irregularity) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HELENE ALLIBOR (C L Chau). Before being allowed to race again, DEAR SIBLING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Whilst in the saddling stalls, OUR LUCKY GLORY had its right hind plate refitted. OUR LUCKY GLORY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
After being loaded into the barriers, COMMANDING MISSILE became fractious and reared on a number of occasions. Before being allowed to race again, COMMANDING MISSILE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
COMMANDING MISSILE began awkwardly and was slow to begin.
OUR LUCKY GLORY began only fairly and then lost ground when hampered by KA YING EXCELLENT which shifted out.
ARMOUR EAGLE and MASSIVE ACTION bumped on jumping.
SINGAPORE SUNSHINE and DRAGON FORTUNE also bumped on jumping.
From wide barriers, HELENE ALLIBOR, SINGAPORE SUNSHINE, HERE COMES TED and RIGHT HONOURABLE were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 1100 Metres, SINGAPORE SUNSHINE, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly towards the heels of COPARTNER AMBITION, resulting in SINGAPORE SUNSHINE being very awkwardly placed behind that horse. After this, SINGAPORE SUNSHINE commenced to travel keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions when racing close to the heels of COPARTNER AMBITION.
Near the 1050 Metres, HELENE ALLIBOR became unbalanced of its own accord and lost ground. C L Chau stated that after this HELENE ALLIBOR travelled comfortably and he was unable to provide any explanation for the incident. This matter was brought to the attention of Mr D A Hayes, trainer of HELENE ALLIBOR.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, OUR LUCKY GLORY got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover behind ARMOUR EAGLE.
MASSIVE ACTION lost its left front plate at the 1000 Metres.
Near the 900 Metres, COMMANDING MISSILE shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SETANTA.
After the 300 Metres, ERIMO was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running and passing the 200 Metres brushed COPARTNER AMBITION.
For the majority of the race, SHINING GEM travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, K Teetan reported that at its most recent start when successful, DRAGON FORTUNE was able to obtain a good position in the early stages due to having drawn barrier 3. He said, in his opinion, this allowed DRAGON FORTUNE the opportunity to finish the race off strongly. He said in today’s race, from barrier 12, he was required to race further back in the field than hoped in order to obtain cover. He said whilst DRAGON FORTUNE was able to obtain a position behind COPARTNER AMBITION worse than midfield, DRAGON FORTUNE was still required to race three wide. He added that he placed DRAGON FORTUNE under pressure after the 600 Metres, however, the horse did not quicken as it did at its most recent start and did not finish the race off over the latter stages. He said that whilst DRAGON FORTUNE raced disappointingly today, he felt that the circumstances of the race had not been to the horse’s advantage. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DRAGON FORTUNE, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on ARMOUR EAGLE at the request of Trainer Y S Tsui. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of SETANTA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MASSIVE ACTION, SHINING GEM and ERIMO were sent for sampling.
