Racing Incident Report

NERVOUS WITNESS jumped awkwardly, made contact with the left side of its barrier and became unbalanced. NERVOUS WITNESS then shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.
IMA SINGLE MAN jumped awkwardly.
TORONADO PHANTOM was bumped on jumping by KA YING MASTER which shifted in. TORONADO PHANTOM was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier.
Shortly after the start, TRILLION WIN was hampered when crowded by WINNING DREAMER which shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider, C Y Ho.
CARROLL STREET was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 900 Metres, GOKO WIN was steadied to avoid VICTOR THE WINNER (Z Purton) which shifted in when not clear. Z Purton was reprimanded.
Near the 700 Metres, TRILLION WIN was steadied away from NERVOUS WITNESS.
ADIOS raced keenly in the middle stages.
Near the 450 Metres, TORONADO PHANTOM was steadied and shifted to the outside of CARROLL STREET to obtain clear running.
Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres, ADIOS was held up for clear running and passing the 300 Metres was shifted to the inside of ORIENTAL SMOKE when that runner shifted out slightly. ADIOS then continued to remain held up between ORIENTAL SMOKE and GOKO WIN when there was not sufficient room to proceed into this run and near the 100 Metres then became held up behind KA YING MASTER when that runner commenced to give ground. Near the 50 Metres, ADIOS was shifted to the outside of ORIENTAL SMOKE where it secured clear running and was able to be ridden out to the finish.
WINNING DREAMER raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the race, K C Leung (ADIOS) reported that from the outside barrier, with the expected fast early pace, he was asked to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages to ensure it obtained cover.
Also after the race, H Bowman (NERVOUS WITNESS) stated that after jumping awkwardly, his mount was unable to lead as instructed and as a result did not travel well throughout the early and middle stages of the event and failed to run on in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of NERVOUS WITNESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of NERVOUS WITNESS was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NERVOUS WITNESS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of TRILLION WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on KA YING MASTER at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, KA YING MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
VICTOR THE WINNER and HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE were sent for sampling.
<17/4/2023 Additional Veterinary Reports> TRILLION WIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. TRILLION WIN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K L Man yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg with a bone injury to its left knee. Before being allowed to race again, TRILLION WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
