Racing Incident Report
BEAUTY FIT jumped awkwardly, shifted out and then made contact with KEEP YOU WARM.
SUPERB CAPITALIST, which was leaning on the inside of its barrier, also jumped awkwardly.
Near the 500 Metres, DROPS OF GOD was steadied away from SUNNY BOY and then was held up for a short distance making the Home Turn.
Over the final 25 Metres, BEAUTY FIT could not be ridden out when improving close to the heels of SUPERB CAPITALIST.
ADEFILL was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding GUMMY GUMMY racing further back today, Z Purton confirmed that his instructions were to endeavour to take up a forward position with cover behind the leaders if possible. He added that as the start was effected GUMMY GUMMY failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position and as a result he was obliged to shift his mount across behind runners in the early stages which resulted in GUMMY GUMMY settling further back than what he had intended. He added that in the middle stages GUMMY GUMMY raced a little keenly when positioned directly behind TORONADO PHANTOM and then finished the race off when placed under pressure in the Straight. Trainer T P Yung confirmed the instructions issued.
A veterinary inspection of TORONADO PHANTOM immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TORONADO PHANTOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY FIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
YOUTHFUL DEAL and GUMMY GUMMY were sent for sampling.
