Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
5 FUN TOGETHER (H041) Sent for sampling post-race.
4 HOLY LAKE (H260) Sent for sampling post-race.
1 OWNERS' PRAISE (H047) Jumped only fairly. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. For a short distance near the 100 Metres raced tight to the inside of HOLY LAKE which lay in. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) Over the final 100 Metres lay in and proved difficult to ride out to the finish of the event. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, K C Leung stated that after being held up behind CHIU CHOW BROTHER, he then commenced to shift out near the 300 Metres to look for clear running. He said as he commenced to shift out, LOST CHILD also shifted out which resulted in a run developing to that runner’s inside. He added that as a result he then shifted back to the inside of LOST CHILD where he secured clear running passing the 250 Metres.
2 BEATO (H090) No report.
7 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, H Bowman stated that after following OWNERS’ PRAISE into the Home Straight, he remained racing behind that runner as he felt that the horse would take him into the event. He said when OWNERS’ PRAISE did not improve into the race as he had expected, he then elected to shift to that runner’s inside near the 300 Metres to improve. He added after obtaining a narrow run between OWNERS’ PRAISE and SUNLIGHT POWER near the 300 Metres, he then commenced to ride his mount along, but near the 200 Metres became held up behind LOST CHILD when that runner commenced to give ground. He further stated that he was not able to then obtain clear running until after the 100 Metres when he secured a narrow run between LOST CHILD and SUNLIGHT POWER. The Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman were reasonable in the circumstances.
11 MAXIMIZE HEART (D311) Was held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.
12 CHIU CHOW BROTHER (E188) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 STRATHPEFFER (H095) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 250 Metres was held up for clear running when improving into a narrow run between CHARMANDER and HORSESAIN BOLT and did not obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres.
3 LOST CHILD (G461) After the race, L Hewitson stated that he was instructed from his wide barrier, if the pace allowed him to do so, he should take up a forward position. He said after commencing well, when caught wide in the early stages, he elected to continue to go forward rather than being caught wide. He added that in retrospect LOST CHILD would be better suited by being ridden back in the field as it did not finish the race off. Trainer C W Chang confirmed that L Hewitson was given the option of holding a forward position, but he agreed with Jockey Hewitson that on this occasion LOST CHILD would be better served by being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
13 HORSESAIN BOLT (D061) No report.
8 CHARMANDER (G437) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
14 ART LITE (H249) Slow to begin. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 GREAT DAYS (H119) Near the 550 Metres was bumped by STRATHPEFFER and then was awkwardly placed on the heels of HORSESAIN BOLT for a short distance.
WV CAN'T GO WONG (H087) Withdrawn on 19.10.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (wound to left front leg). Before being allowed to race again, CAN’T GO WONG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
