3 3 GALLANT VALOUR (H323) Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied away from TELECOM SPEED. Sent for sampling post-race.
4 4 LYRICAL MOTION (G081) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
5 5 KILINDINI (E236) Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
6 12 CHIU CHOW BROTHER (E188) No report.
7 10 HIGH PERCENTAGE (G413) Bumped on jumping. From the 300 Metres until near the 200 Metres was held up for clear running. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HIGH PERCENTAGE at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, HIGH PERCENTAGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. <1/2/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports>After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HIGH PERCENTAGE at the request of Trainer T P Yung which showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that HIGH PERCENTAGE was found to be lame in its right front leg on the day after racing. As previously advised, HIGH PERCENTAGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
8 2 EXUBERANT (E282) Crowded shortly after the start. After the race, B Avdulla expressed concern with his mount’s action which lay in over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, EXUBERANT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
9 1 WOOD ON FIRE (C460) Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
10 9 DIAMOND SOARS (G201) Jumped awkwardly and was bumped. After the race, L Ferraris reported that his mount was not suited by being pressured in the lead by CHIU CHOW BROTHER and as a result was unable to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 7 FLYING ROMANTIC (J057) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
UR 6 FAST AS ROCKET (H375) An inquiry was opened into the reason for C L Chau being dislodged from FAST AS ROCKET approaching the 1000 Metres. After taking evidence from C L Chau and H Bowman, the rider of TELECOM SPEED, the Stewards found that near the 1000 Metres FAST AS ROCKET shifted out across the heels of TELECOM SPEED, resulting in FAST AS ROCKET striking the heels of that runner, blundering and C L Chau being dislodged. The Stewards determined that the racing manners of FAST AS ROCKET were the reason for it striking the heels and blundering. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The Stewards ruled that FAST AS ROCKET will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend in Hong Kong and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. C L Chau was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.
