He said throughout the event whilst he was aware that the pace was slow and being run outside of standard time and his mount was over-racing, he was reluctant to allow his mount to stride forward from the 800M when a runner started a forward move as that would be contrary to the instructions. He added after that runner obtained the lead in the Back Straight and the pace of the event quickened, his mount settled better but was still disappointing in its failure to run on in the Home Straight. Trainer confirmed that the instructions were to ride the horse back in the field from its outside barrier. He said given that the horse had been racing out of form, he had instructed rider to provide the horse with every opportunity to finish the race off strongly and therefore was satisfied with the tactics adopted by rider in not going forward in the middle stages of the event - Race 085.

Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when racing tight. Noted to have lost its right hind plate and have sustained a wound to the sole of the right hind foot after the race - Race 804.

After the event, rider stated that his mount finished the race off in a one-paced manner and would appreciate being stepped up in distance for its next race start. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 048.
