He added when the eventual winner improved to his outside, he elected to allow that runner to cross rather than contesting that position as he felt that would be detrimental to the chances of his mount settling in the middle stages of the event. After considering his explanations, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by rider in the circumstances were reasonable - Race 144.

He said his mount was able to control the lead at standard time, but in the Home Straight responded only fairly to his riding. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 132.
