He said when his mount jumped well he was obliged to go forward and cross runners to his inside which resulted in his mount racing in a more forward position than what he had anticipated. When questioned regarding his riding out, rider stated that when his mount shifted in near the 200M it took some time to respond to his efforts to correct. He said as a result passing the 100M his mount shifted out which presented a run to the inside for the eventual winner. The Stewards were satisfied that rider was riding in a manner to look after the safety of his fellow rider - Race 326.

For some distance after the 200M had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving between two runners. After the event, rider reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages as when his mount was having its first race start it did not appreciate racing in a more forward position. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued - Race 311.
