He said the decision not to do so was also influenced by the fact that his mount was up in weight carrying 133 lbs and he felt the most important factor when riding the horse was to ensure that it travelled comfortably and was able to build momentum into the race. He said for that reason making the turn near the 1000M his mount was taken wider and when the 4th placegetter then improved to the inside of the aforementioned runner, his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter - Race 401.

Trainer confirmed the instructions and stated that he issued such instructions as his mount had raced too keenly at its last start and had performed well when ridden in a conservative manner on 4 December 2024. Both trainer and rider advised that the horse was disadvantaged by settling back in the field when the early stages of the race was run outside of standard time. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 401.
